First Day of Summer

Posted on June 20th, 2016

It’s the first day of my favorite season, and it is also National Wear Your Lilly Day, so my various newsfeeds were inundated with girls living life in color.  Unfortunately, at this point in my life I have limited opportunities for the fun, bright, resort chic prints we all know and love, so these days I’m admiring from a distance (with envy!) and building out my closet in a different way.

I’m always on the lookout for pieces I know I can wear just about anywhere, anytime.  They’re often cotton, look good with or without a cardigan, can be styled with a variety of different accessories or shoes, and are a neutral color palette.  I love the comfort and fun of casual Lilly Pulitzer dresses, but they rarely meet that set of criteria.  Until!  The Essie dress!

I took these photos during a toasty St. Louis weekend (we don’t generally have this flavor of summer in Seattle), so I broke out my sun hat, too, but it’s easy to see how this dress could be office-approved with a cardigan and wedges, and could even be worn into the fall with flats or boots and a loose cashmere sweater.  Grab one before July 4th, throw on a red cardigan, and you’ll be ready to go!

And if you do have a little more print-wearing-leeway, this dress comes in two fantastic prints, too.  I love those Fansea colors!
